Collection: Banksy

Banksy is a pseudonymous street artist, political activist, and film director based in England. While his real name and identity remain shrouded in mystery and speculation, his influence on the art world and social commentary is undeniable. Active since the 1990s, Banksy is renowned for his satirical artwork and subversive epigrams that blend dark humor with a unique graffiti style characterized by his distinctive stenciling technique.

Emerging from the vibrant Bristol underground scene, Banksy's work often features collaborations with artists and musicians, reflecting his roots within a creative community. One of his inspirations is 3D, a graffiti artist and founding member of the influential musical group Massive Attack.

Banksy’s art is typically displayed on public walls and surfaces, making it accessible to a wide audience. Although he has ceased selling photographs or reproductions of his street art, the pieces themselves often become sought-after commodities, sometimes resold by removing the walls on which they were painted. Much of Banksy's work can be classified as temporary art, designed to exist within the urban landscape before often being taken down or altered.

In addition to his artistic accomplishments, Banksy was honored as Person of the Year at the 2014 Webby Awards, further solidifying his status as a significant figure in contemporary art and cultural discourse. Through his thought-provoking works, Banksy continues to challenge societal norms and provoke discussion on pressing political and social issues worldwide.
